For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out
the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

Some time during the December holidays in 2008, I helped Suniti with this documentary on the different Yoga styles in South Africa. “Yoga in Africa” was flighted last year and had an amazing response. And now its back!
Yoga in Africa is a local documentary that explores the ancient origins and spiritual
significance of yoga. Interweaving insights from various yogic schools of thought,
it demystifies commonly held perceptions of yoga as just a health and fitness modality
and beautifully illustrates that it’s a sacred science integrating body, mind and spirit instead.
The documentary also takes a look at yoga in the context of some of the specific challenges
facing Africa such as HIV / AIDS, disability, crime rehabilitation and healing from trauma.
Internationally respected teachers Swami Niranjananda, Swami Pragyamurti and Deepak
Chopra are featured alongside many well-known names from the local yoga community.
Yoga in Africa is produced by Moksham Productions and directed
by Suniti Kala. (www.mokshamproductions.com)
We’ve got 10 copies of this DVD to give to a few lucky people. All you need to do is leave a comment on this blog, with the answer to the following question, and you could win a copy of this doccie.

Love wholeheartedly, be surprised, give thanks and praise – then you will discover the fullness of your life.

Life is better lived with a generous supply of Freedom. Your creative spirit is released when you have control over how you spend your day

Some help others in order to receive blessings and admiration. This is simply meaningless. Some cultivate themselves in part to serve others, in part to serve their own pride. They will understand, at best, half of the truth. But those who improve themselves for the sake of the world – to these, the whole truth of the universe will be revealed.
Lao Tzu
Your best shot at happiness, self-worth and personal satisfaction – the things that constitute real success – is not in earning as much as you can but in performing as well as you can something that you consider worthwhile.

is like this: You feel cold so I reach for a blanket
to cover our shivering feet
A hunger comes into your body
so I run to my garden
and start digging potatoes
You ask for a few words of comfort and guidance
I quickly kneel at your side offering you
This whole book-as a gift
You ache with loneliness one night
so much you weep
and i say
heres a rope
tie it around me
Hafiz will be your companion
for life.

Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation. Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound.

Life-long yogi and musical legend in South Africa, Steve Newman, comes together with classically trained kirtan singer Dasi Karnamrita and master table player Ashish Joshi for a musical offering of devotion. Karnamrita has spent the past months in South Africa and is just about to leave again. This is their last musical gift to us in this ensemble as a warm note of gratitude to the beautiful, hospitable people in South Africa she has met.
The sufi poet Rumi says, ‘We rarely hear the inward music, but we all dance to it nevertheless.’ This is a meditative offering from one yogi to another to tune the ear to the inward sound of the universe.

This workshop will be of equal value to those moms expecting a C- section birth. Sadly, there is still very little dignity or respect shown to this kind of birth. It is still as miraculous and transformative a process, bringing the gift of life.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest
critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to
know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
