Chris Tokalon will be conducting a 2h healing playshop at Ishta Yoga centre on Saturday 10th April from 11am to 1pm
Christopher Tokalon is a musician, composer, performer, sound therapist and recording artist. He has played sax and flute since 1979 in a wide variety of jazz and world music ensembles, musicals and cabarets, as well as being constantly involved in and performing local original music with bands and artists such as Peto, the Jazz Hounds, Steve Newman, Tony Cox, Drum Cafe and his own world music project, Soulbird. He is known for his astonishing ability to mimic musical instruments, birds, animals and people in performance and has also developed a natural ability for overtone singing and creating evocations of natural sounds as part of a Sound therapy process.
Christopher has been specializing in Sound Journeys for about 12 years, a process where “passengers” lie down and receive a wonderfully calming, energizing sound bath. The effect of this soothing cellular massage is to shake loose stress and trauma and create a balance between body, mind and spirit. Journeys can be done for groups or individuals and Chris has taken literally thousands of people on transformational Sound Journeys.
Christopher is also an expert in facilitating interactive music sessions and performing inspirational music and comedy for teambuilding in corporations, on holistic retreats, children’s playshops and as a supplement to other workshops. He has produced three CDs of specially composed music suitable for all round listening, for relaxation and upliftment. His latest work Wonderings , is a cd based on his sound journey format, and combines the expertise he has gathered over many years as musician and sound therapist.
This will be available at Ishta on Saturday the 10th April along with his previous recordings, Dance in de Light and Soulbird. His work has received acclaim from therapists, health journals and everyone who has been on a magical sound experience with him.
SOUND JOURNEY – Take a holiday from your busy mind, day, life!
We will start with a toning session – best described as a vocal meditation for ‘tuning’and balancing chakra energy, using simple vowel sounds as mantras. This is an ideal relaxation and preparation for the journey.
A soothing, gentle, stress release, a sound journey is a sound bath or sound massage during which simple yet powerful live sounds are woven through your body, mind and spirit. All you need do, is lie down with eyes closed and allow yourself to be transported, mesmerised and thoroughly ‘tuned’ by overtone singing, Tibetan bowl, flute, rain stick, didgeridoo and a few other ‘toys’ and surprises.
Christopher uses beautiful, harmonious evocations of natural sounds and the resonance of acoustic instruments which provide access to your inner stillness and vitality- to restore a balance and transform the residue of accumulated trauma, leaving you calm, energised and at peace – ready to face life’s challenges and journeys.
